We celebrate THE MIGHTY SEA LION with our Irish Polka Dance!
Celebrating both St. Patricks week, AND our large playful mascot in Cowell's Cove. If you are not acquainted with Sea Lions, take a jaunt to end of the Santa Cruz Wharf and look down inside the cutout areas. Yes they may look like a lazy blob, sleeping under the wharf , but have you seen them dive deep into the frigid waters of the bay? They are amazingly graceful as well as stout of heart inhabiting the depths of that chilly cold world. I often wonder if we should warn them of the dangers of hypothermia out there, but from the looks of it they seem to be handling it well. We celebrate them in our Sea Lion-esque dance that has both Swing and Waltz qualities (aka Irish Polka) It will take your breath away quicker than a plunge into the chilly waves, no Guinness Stout needed!

Happy March 1.
Tonight’s national news is full of BIG HAPPY developments!!! Bigger & faster than expected vaccination progress, both here and abroad. As evidence by this joyous dancing man, a Sikh dancing Bhangra dance (I definitely want to learn that too!) on a Canadian snow-covered lake after getting his vaccination yesterday! (google “Canada Bhangra dance vaccinated” and you will find it.) Yes, what better epitomizes happiness and joy than. . . dance! After our long, wayyyyy too looooong, winter of discouragement, despair, depression, now, most of us have made it through. the sunshine is getting longer each day, the Santa Cruz trees are starting to bloom while covid is still going on, even spiking up again in places across USA, so no time to let up your vigilance (keep masking, social distancing, and get YOUR vaccinations to keep our society healthy. Here’s a famous lady we all know singing about it. (and she helped to fund it too!) But because of all that, you SHOULD be getting ready for re-entry into society, including, eventually … BIG ominous DRUM ROLL….. … social dancing. So now is a GREAT time to get ready for that. Brush up on your dance skills, get those jumping juices flowing Shake off the rust on your legs, its time to get your feet moving into dance rhythms again. Our online classes are the perfect way. Jump in this week! |
